How Do I Know That My Skin Is Beautiful?

Queen, your skin is beautiful, and no one can tell you otherwise!

Yes, that’s right, we are talking to you! Whether you are caramel, chocolate or dark chocolate tone, your shade is beautiful!

I’m sure if I were to ask if you have anything to change about your body you wouldn’t have a problem coming up with more than 3 things. I know right, I’ve been guilty of that myself. Sadly, we spend more time with ourselves than anyone else, which may sometimes result in us obsessing over our imperfections and flaws.

Well, today we are here to tell you to the pressure off yourself and just embrace your shade of beautiful! Treasure it, love it, celebrate it and be proud of it because whatever it is, we promise you it is beautiful!

Here are ways to embrace and celebrate your shade of beautiful everyday:
  1. Know that there’s nothing wrong with you and that your shade is beautiful – You are beautiful. Whether you’ve got lighter or darker skin, it’s all naturally part of who you are and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
  2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone elseYou are beautiful. You are a beautiful, unique individual and there’s a reason why there’s nobody else like you. Your shade is only yours, it’s special, so  embrace and celebrate that.
  3. Take care of your skinYou are beautiful. Look after, nourish and love your skin. Self care promotes a healthy relationship with your own body and healthy self-image. Knowing how to take care of your skin is an act of love towards your skin and a sign of you choosing to embrace  and celebrate your shade of beautiful. 4. Complement your skin with colour – Embrace your shade of beautiful! Have fun and enjoy dressing up in a shade of colour that you love and will make you feel good.

Loving your skin and its shade is something that may not come naturally to some because of their beliefs, but that is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself.

Here is proof of someone learning to love their shade of beautiful.

“the older I grew, the more I learned I am my skin.

I learned to get used to the side jokes. I learned to get used to never having a dark enough “nude” colour.

I learned I look damn good in yellow, white, and blue.

I learned the sunlight wouldn’t make me lighter, but it accentuates the darkness of my skin.

With age, I learned I will attract the ones that will find me attractive.

Having a darker complexion is what makes me unique. It’s what separates me from the others and it’s essentially what I use to stand out on my own. And building that confidence is what ultimately made me attractive even if I wasn’t someone’s preference.

In the wise words of Tupac, “Some say the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice. I say the darker the flesh that mean the deeper the roots.”

I love that for me!” – Rhonda James

We are all beautiful regardless of our skin colour or shade. You just have to understand your skin, whether it is dry or oily or combination skin and then take it from there.
