rubies, it’s cold outside

Winter is here and it’s back with a vengeance. We don’t know if Summer was just super-hot or if we are in for a proper cold winter but the struggle is REAL. Especially when it comes to getting out of bed in the morning.

Winter also brings other forms of anxiety. You either get those Winter babies that can’t get enough of the cold or you have those that feel a little lonelier and your mental health takes a knock.

Research has found that those that struggle during the colder months should opt for a week-long social media break. Those that participated saw significant improvement in wellbeing, depression and anxiety compared to other groups that continued as normal.

One in four of us suffer from loneliness and there are a couple of ways we can try combat this. Either through connecting with friends, trying to meeting new people or reconnecting with ourselves but a week-long social media break could also be a simple but effective tool.

One of the big pros for a week-long social media is connecting more with real life and being more present. Going on a walk and actually admiring the beautiful scenery around you, spending time with friends and being present not constantly worrying about your phone vibrating.

People are often shocked that coming off social media makes us feel less lonely, but it makes perfect sense. You are less susceptible to FOMO and you start to make more effort IRL (in real life).

We for one will definitely be giving this a try! What do you think rubies, would you consider going on a week-long social media break if you suffer from loneliness?👀

You could say that again “Winter is here and it’s back with a vengeance.” It is cold right through the day now chill is in the air. Great advice about the week-long social media break. Congratulations to the lucky winners enjoy your prize.

I hope I win some cash this time around as there is no point system to earn rewards with Rubybox and more than half the time one does not qualify for testing a product at home. Is it not possible to have some surveys where one can get points and then redeem it for cash? A person wants to be rewarded for time spent on something and since most of us won’t qualify to win the cash prize, there needs to be some other kind of incentive.

It’s definitely cold outside. Hubby and I just look at one another in the morning and ask, don’t you think we should sleep in??? 😂 Oh how we wish… In our wildest dreams, their are kids waiting on us to get them ready for crèche and school and many other obligations, like work 😏😊 we love winter, but love being indoors when it’s cold outside, we prefer being all snug and warm. Just doing things as a family is what matters most. Tbh, I have never given the social media platform a 1 week break before and not sure how that would go… I guess I always have the FOMO… but I do know that it would be a healthy and much needed break.

To all the families out there, keep warm and always do what you can for those in need. We are privileged to have a roof over our heads. My heart goes out to those less fortunate. Have a blessed month of June!
