March Newsletter

March is here, and although it is one of the most beautiful months of the year, our skin is changing as we move out of Summer and into Autumn. Remember those important resolutions you made at the beginning of this year – well if yours was focusing more on your skin health and skincare in general this one’s for you.

It is so important to update your daily beauty products and routine as the seasons change – a good moisturiser is a must and remember you still need to keep applying that sunblock!

Some of you might not be ready to kiss Summer goodbye just yet but despite that we still need to be fully prepared for the effect Autumn can have on our skin. Autumn brings cooler weather and a drop in humidity which makes for dry, stale air and even drier skin. Match this with dry heat from heaters and it’s chemistry for a skin disaster.

We are here to help you reassess your go-to-skin-care-routine and remind you that it’s always good to approach skin care seasonally, like you do with your wardrobe.

  1. Try a thicker moisturiser – no more lightweight, oil free moisturisers it’s time to bulk up with a heftier hydrator this aids in preventing skin dehydration.
  2. Add body lotion to you daily routine – With Summer coming to an end you may start to feel dry and itchy because of the lack of moisture in the air. One way to stop the itch is to load up on hydration.
  3. Cut back on exfoliating – Cooler weather means cutting back on robust ingredients like retinoids and glycolic acid. It’s very easy to overdo it but we say put down the exfoliator for a little bit because you’ll know if you are going hard on your skin when it’s constantly inflamed and irritated.
  4. Invest in a humidifier – Dry heat that we get from being around heaters in the office or your own apartment can cause a serious threat to your skin barrier. This can lead to flaking, peeling and cracking this is where the humidifier comes into play.

In winter and autumn I add glycerine to my body lotions and a non comedogenic oil after my night time moisturiser to seal everything in

In summer and spring ..I stick to gel formulas.

I change my routine by lowering water temperature and opt for a more gentle fragrance free cleanser. I increase my water intake and I use a heavier moisteriser and exfoliate more often. I always wear sunscreen. Xxxx

If you have a hard time drinking water in winter try drinking green tea with honey and lemon it is super hydrating and helps with Vit C and anti-oxidant intake.

I am now quite consistent with my skincare, I like gel or cream washes, use chemical exfoliating toners, essences, a few serums, light moisturizers and definitely SPF 50 if I am going outside. In winter I add more moisture through a moisturizing lotion on my face and am more diligent around the serums and cream around my eyes. I also use more lotions and creams on my body, especially my feet and hands.

Fabulous Post Rubybox…….it is just so important to follow these great steps. Definitely a winner in skin as we change from season to season. A great thick moisturizer & a humidifier & sunblock is a must.

I’m all ready for a change in season as cooler weather comforts my skin compared to the heat… I will definitely stock up on thicker body lotions to take care of the moisture in my skin.

I have dry skin throughout my entire body. So as seasons change I get extremely dry. For my face I have already added the Squalene serum and the Vitamin C serum I use contains the hyaluronic acid which is hydrating. I also use a creamy cleanser which doesn’t leave my face feeling dry after washing. For my body I opted for body cream instead of lotion because it’s quite moisturizing. For sunscreen I use thick and creamy.

I have dry skin which is prone to acne. I know right it’s a disaster. During the summer I get away with using a lightweight moisturizer but I need to use a hydrating toner daily. Products that help me remove dark spots and acne leave my skin feeling even more dry so I always a hydrating toner and top it up with hyaluronic acid. During winter time I use a heavy moisturizer like epimax and I apply close to 3 layers in order for my skin to feel completely hydrated. I also add ceramides to completely get the moisture and hydration in. I continue with niacinamide, vitamin c, and alpha arbutin because they help brighten my skin and keep my skin evenly toned. Of course I don’t forget my spf 50, I use it everyday whether it us summer or winter.

My skin just went from smooth soft to worst I don’t even know what to apply on it I drink plenty of water I’m taking collagen, i do steaming after my workouts but nothing
I’ll invest on a humidifier and see if it will help, thanks for the tip

A Hydrating facial oil might help (I am assuming your problem is dryness) Nanoskin Hydrating Face Oil or Standard Beauty Moisture Bomb Serum are great choices!
