Shop the January Sales Like a Pro

Been lusting after that on-trend lippie? Want to try a blow-the-budget serum? Here’s how to get want you really want out of the new year sales.

Plan Ahead
Before you start adding things to your cart, have an idea of what you’re looking for and keep a budget in mind. Is the sale an opportunity to splurge for less, or are you just looking to stockpile a few essentials? Keep your mind on the end game, even if you take a slight detour to get there…like stocking up on a classic fragrance or two. We like Emporio Armani Diamonds or Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.

Be open to ideas
Although we recommend having a general idea of what you’d like to pick up at a sale, be open-minded about the brand, style or colour. The great thing about shopping during sale time is you might discover brands that you previously didn’t know about (and with the right bargains, be able to afford some awesome brands that you usually couldn’t). We’ve discovered the beauty of glitter nail polish thanks to Sally Hansen Nail Colour in Golden Rule which can be used on it’s own or as a sparkly top coat.

Get in there quickly
Due to the nature of sales shopping, stocks are always limited. So set your alarms ladies, and hit the sale as early as possible. If you see something you love and it’s on special, go for it. Just to give you an idea, when there’s a Christian Louboutin sale, they are sold at a rate of one pair of shoes every three seconds – some discounts are simply too good to dawdle over.

Fork out less for trends
As much as we love being fashion-forward, sometimes dropping a week’s lunch money on an item you know will only last a season is simply not an option. Sales are the perfect way to pick up trend items like the latest matte lipsticks and lumo nail colours without the high credit card bill. Our suggestion? Go for the Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette.

Time for a promotion
Buying on sale is a terrific opportunity to upgrade your beauty routine, especially if you’d like to try a splurge-worthy skincare product. If you want results, it’s often the pricey moisturiser or serum that work the hardest as they have the highest percentage of active ingredients. Fine lines not so fine any more? Try Skin Doctors SuperFaceLift. Dark spots a problem? Try Decleor Aroma White C Protective Brightening Day Emulsion SPF 15.
