Elie Saab Le Parfum L’Eau Couture
This dazzlingly fresh new fragrance, created by Francis Kurkdjian (who has also been responsible for triumphs like Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and Jean Paul Gaultier MaDame) is deliciously addictive. It’s like a secret; it’s soft (there’s not an overpowering note in the composition) yet it’s sensual. Even after I’ve spritzed and am ready to head out the door, I want more. Elie Saab Le Parfum L’Eau Couture (R785, 50ml) combines zesty Calabrian Bergamot with luminous Magnolia, together with crisp green almond and sensual vanilla. Shhhh.

Ordinary Skincare Moisturising Balm
After two blissful weeks in Europe, my soul was singing but my skin was screaming. Cue Ordinary Skincare Moisturising Balm (R329.95, 50ml); this all-rounder is free from preservatives, petrolatum-derived products, sulphates and fragrance, so it’s even safe for anyone with eczema and psoriasis. Not only has it restored my chapped, red nose to its former glory, and given my knees and elbows a less ghostly appearance, I’m also applying it to my hands and cuticles as an intensive treatment. Plus, most exciting of all, it’s made locally in Cape Town with vegetable wax, olive wax, grape seed oil and beeswax.

Sigma Eyeliner Brush
If you want your liner to last, (and by last, I mean get through an 18-hour-day, without budging) then you have gotta go with a gel-based liner, and this Sigma Eye Liner Brush E05 (R195) is the perfect accomplice. The pointed tip allows for precision, whether you’re creating a thick cat eye or delicate line, plus you can either line your eyes with short strokes or all in one go – it works for both novices and pros, and the bristles feel super soft along your eyelids.
Sigma Eye Liner Brush E05 R195. Available here from Turquoise Studio.

Maybelline Baby Lips
If I had to count, I’ve tested about 200 lip balm formulations over the years, and have firmly established my role as the go-to person for lip balm advice. The latest to go through the rigorous Margaux-test? Maybelline Baby Lips. These have been a long time coming, I’ve seen them in international magazines, read the reviews online and finally we get to try them in SA for ourselves. And at a price of R29.95, you really can try them all. My faves? Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss, which has the finest silver shimmer and Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch, which turns my lips a delicious candy pink hue. And yes my lips were plumped and hydrated throughout the day, in actual fact they felt (and looked) so good my regular balm has been pushed to the bottom of my bag to make space for these two.
