Low Calorie-Alcoholic Drinks

Alcohol is often one of the main contributors when it comes to weight gain as well as a major hinge when it comes to trying to drop a few kilos.

Low-alcoholic drinks may sound like a bore but they really are a thing and they can be helpful if you are trying to decrease the amount of calories you are consuming.

This doesn’t mean you have to give up your favourite drink of choice for good but if you are trying to be mindful of calories when it comes to alcoholic beverages we suggest you opt for some of the below the next time you hit the town.

A Bloody Mary (140 calories) – Not only does this cocktail have less sugar than others but the spicy taste, often slows down how fast you may drink it. The spiciness may also encourage you to drink water in between sips.

A Glass of Pinot Noir (125 calories) – When opting for mixed drinks the calorie count tends to be higher due to a shot of alcohol normally containing almost a 100 calories alone and a mixer is usually between 100-150 calories. Therefore a glass of red is always the best bet, preferably a pinot noir as it is high in antioxidants.

A Whiskey and Soda Water (110 calories)  – Whiskey is relatively low in calories in comparison to other shots, you can either opt to drink it on the rocks but if this is too bitter mix it with soda water instead of a high sugar mixer such a coke.

A Tequila and Fresh Orange Juice (169 calories)  – When selecting your tequila always opt for a silver tequila as they usually contain less sugar then brown tequila or other brown shots. If you are brave you can have this drink on the rocks or pair it with fresh orange juice for a sweeter taste.

A Vodka, Lime and Water (97 calories) – You can even opt for sparkling water instead of spring water if you would prefer. When asking for a dash of lime it is recommended to ask for a squeeze of fresh lime a healthier, sugar-free boost of flavour.

A Glass of Champagne (84 calories) – Not only is this the perfect celebratory drink, but it is also one of the lowest in calories when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Now that’s a reason to celebrate!
