TREND WATCH: Spring/ Summer 2013 Sorted

This summer make the sidewalk your catwalk with these three easy-to-achieve trends.

Loud lips
We’ve mastered ombre locks and nails – next up? The two tone lip. Prep your pout with a moisturising lip balm. Apply the darker lipstick first and try avoid the centre of your lips. Now fill in the centre with the lighter shade of lippie. This reflects light and creates the illusion of fuller lips.
Trick of the trade
The key to nailing this is to use two shades of lipstick from the same colour family. Our fave pairing?
Bourjois Rouge Edition in Fraise Remix and Rose Studio.

Grunge eyes
A new season twist on the smokey eye; the focus moves to your upper lids. Apply a wash of grey shadow and follow with a dark grey or deep plum hue up until your creases. Line your upper lash line with a smudgey black liner and blend upwards to meet your shadow. Load up on mascara and pair with a nude pout.
Trick of the trade
To keep it elegant, not slept-in apply highlighter underneath each brow and on the inner corners of both eyes. Don’t have a highlighter? Use a pearlescent shadow like Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten instead.

Deconstructed updos
Great for getting your hair off your neck, this trend is all about texture. Apply a root lift gel like Kérastase Lift Vertige and use your fingers to lift your hair while blow drying. Once dry, braid, plait, twist or top knot – the easier your updo, the quicker you’re out the door.
Trick of the trade
Before pulling your hair up, tease your crown to create a rough surface that gives hold but doesn’t look structured.

Rubies, which trend will you be rocking this summer?
