Our Top Super foods for beautiful skin and hair:
Spinach – Popeye was onto something here. Spinach has the top three wrinkle fighting antioxidants – vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene. These three work to protect your skin form the sun’s aging UV rays. Use it in your salad in place of or with lettuce, or blend into your pasta sauce.
Chia Seeds – A great form of protein, fibre and omega-3, and they keep you feeling fuller for longer. Add a handful to your morning juice, or simply sprinkle over some yoghurt.
Almonds – Rich in vitamin E (vital to healthy skin) and flavonoids (good for your heart) which keeps damaging ‘free radicals’ at bay. A handful a day keeps the radicals away!
Blueberries – One of the top ranked fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant properties which protect you from premature ageing.
Salmon – Another winner packed with omega-3 fatty acids, these keep your skin supple and moisturised. . Salmon also has selenium, a mineral that protects the skin from sun exposure. The vitamin D in salmon keeps your bones and teeth strong and healthy, too. You won’t have a problem adding salmon to your diet since there are hundreds of ways to enjoy this beauty superfood.
Tomatoes – The best source of the anti-ageing antioxidant lycopene. Surprisingly, lycopene in tomatoes is more easily absorbed by your body when it is cooked, so make sure to stock up on canned tomato sauce or tomato juice. Yes you can use this as an excuse to drink Bloody Mary’s this summer 🙂
Dark Chocolate – Finally! A valid reason to dig into some dark chocolate. It helps the skin stay hydrated and protects skin from sun damage, and no – chocolate does not cause acne. The best kind of chocolate has a high flavanol content and should be at least 60 percent cacao.
So there you have it rubies, try and incorporate these into your weekly diet to ensure glowing skin from the inside.
