Hi there rubies,
So it is the summer holidays!! Whooohooo!
Some of you will be swimming, camping and some spending some time with the relatives – and this often involves cooking, chopping and washing up dishes – we know : (
During the holiday season, we often forget to take care of our bodies as we are just having too much fun and often the most neglected part of us is our nails.
They break, split and tear during this busy month, yet so many of us are unaware of what causes these irritating mishaps.
Did you know that often weak nails can be caused by hormonal changes, dehydration (too much holiday punch and not enough water ladies!) and dietary issues.
Do not fear my dear rubies as we have collected some tips for healthier and prettier nails!
Tip 1
This summer is going to be especially hot, so many of us will be in the pool, but did you know that water and the chlorine can be one of you biggest culprits, as together they can effect the essential oils that keep your nails and cuticles healthy! After you swim remember to moisturize your hands and feet using a deep moisturizer or hand cream as this will work best!
Tip 2
The African summer heat can cause dry nails that become brittle and dehydrated, often leading to infected cuticles! Moisterise those hands and feet daily to avoid this problem and also don’t forget to exfoliate often!!
Tip 3
This might be the giving season and everybody is in the mood to share and spread the love, but when it comes to your nail file, rather don’t share or you will be spreading more than the Christmas spirit.
Tip 4
This beauty tool can get some nasty germs that can affect your nails so remember to replace your nail file regularly!
On holidays we like to break free from society and get a breather from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Your nails also need a break from nail polish, pedicures and manicures. Go au natural! Use a acetone-free polish remover and
a biotin vitamin which is probably one of the best vitamins to use during the holidays. Not only does it help for boosting your energy and supports healthy skin but it strengthens the nail cuticles!
Go and enjoy the rest of your holiday and enter the New Year with beautiful, healthy nails!
