Most of us are familiar with the troubles of dealing with hyperpigmentation and dry skin around our eyes. The world of skincare has evolved immensely, providing solutions to these troubles. However, majority of these solutions are offered at extravagant prices that not many can always afford. If you are looking for a natural and more affordable alternative to expensive eyecare products, then you’re at the right place.
There are several reasons why the skin around our eyes darkens and dries out. A few of which can include dehydration, stress, not getting enough sleep as well as excessive alcohol consumption and smoking. While it is important to take care of our bodies from the inside, the habits that we practice for the benefit of our skin work hand in hand with the products that we use topically.
The use of oils in skincare has existed for a long time and the benefits they provide both medicinally and recreationally are testament to why they have remained in use for over a span of generations.
Let us take a dive into oils that tackle the issues behind hyperpigmentation and dryness around the eyes
Olive oil is a widely popular oil that has many health benefits when ingested however it also has properties that are beneficial for the health of your skin. Due to its fatty acids and antioxidants, olive oil works by sealing in moisture and keeping your skin hydrated. It is also a gentle exfoliator so when applied it stimulates new cell growth that results in the shedding of old skin. The long-term use of olive oil promotes smoother and brighter skin making it a perfect eyecare alternative. The easiest way to use it is by applying a few drops on your under-eye area and gently massaging it in. There is no harm in mixing it with a cream of your liking as some may find the oil too thick to use on its own.
The next on my list is Jojoba oil. This oil is highly appreciated for its gentleness as well as its ability to absorb into the skin. Jojoba oil contains high amounts of vitamin E which makes it a worthy contender in the battle against hyperpigmentation. It also works with your skin to retain its moisture in order to keep it hydrated. These qualities are what you should be looking for in products used around the eye. This oil can be used on its own by simply massaging a few drops into your skin.
Having saved the best for last, the final oil we shall be looking into is Almond oil. The nuts from which Almond oil is extracted are high in vitamin E and vitamin A. Vitamin A contains properties that stimulate new skin cells and provide moisture to the skin. Almond oil also contains anti-inflammatory qualities that assist in reducing puffiness around the eyes. This gives the oil an edge over the others as it tackles various problems at once. I think almond oil is the most useful in taking care of the skin around our eyes because of this. It is safe to use on its own however it is important to make sure that you are not allergic. This can be done by doing a patch test on your forearm.
The oils recommended above can be found at various stores like Dischem and Clicks. They are offered at reasonable prices that won’t break your bank. You’ll find that incorporating oils into your skincare can be beneficial as you’ll be taking care of your skin while saving money.
It’s always advisable that you do your own research on potential skincare. It is also important to remember as I mentioned before that our skin needs us to practice healthy habits like drinking water and getting enough sleep so that our skincare can work its magic.
Skincare can be daunting, but I hope you find what works for you!
