What You Should Be Doing To Your Make-Up Brushes
One of the most vital steps when it comes to your make-up bag is the task of washing your make-up brushes.
Because at the end of each day these beauty wands gather, dust, oil and bacteria, which we so blissfully unaware apply to our skin each day. Eww right!
Here are a few simple tips on how to ensure you clean your brushes properly to ensure you do not damage them in the process:
Step 1: The Suppliers
The first step to attaining healthy make-up brushes is ensuring you have the correct products when it comes to cleaning them. Ensure you have got a gentle shampoo we recommend the use of Purity & Elizabeth Anne's Special Baby Shampoo. If you are able to get your hands on a basic silicone brush cleaner we would recommend you do, but this is not a necessary.
Step 2: Wash
To begin the process, rinse the make-up brushes bristles under lukewarm water. Be careful when doing so and ensure the water runs down the length of the brushes. This prevents water from entering the base of the brush which can in turn weaken the glue and damage the brush over time. Then work a small amount of Purity & Elizabeth Anne's Special Baby Shampoo into the bristles by swirling the brush against a surface either use the pam of your hand or the silicone mat, in a circular motion. To protect your brushes ensure you use a light pressure when swirling the brush around.
Step 3: Rinse
Now repeat the process, by swirling the brush under warm water to rinse until you notice that the water rinses clear.
Step 4: Dry
Squeeze all the excess water carefully out of the brush. Lay your brushes on a facecloth to dry. Let the bristles hang over the edge of the sink, rotating them every few hours leaving them to dry for about 8-12 hours.
We recommend you give your brushes some TLC once a month. You will notice how much smoother they are after being cleaned.
