Yipee, I’ve just signed up for a rubybox subscription. What will I receive?
Within the first ten days of every month, you’ll receive a box filled with four or five trial-size samples from luxury beauty brands with a value ranging between R200 – R400. Each month will bring a different mix of makeup, skincare, fragrance, body, and hair products. As the samples are trial-size, they are designed to give you enough for you to try for up to a week to figure out if they’re right for you. Plus, our website is packed with expert tips and interviews and detailed product descriptions so you can get the most out of your samples and your rubybox experience. To qualify for the following month’s box, you’ll need to sign up before the cut-off date of 12pm on the 26th of the month.

Tell me, are there any hidden costs?
Nope – whether you’ve chosen the annual, six month, gift or monthly subscription, everything’s included. There are no additional delivery or handling fees for the rubybox.

How can I pay for my rubybox?
We currently accept both VISA and MASTERCARD credit or cheque card (your card needs to have a so-called CVV code which are the last 3 or 4 numbers of the number string at the back of the card). Unfortunately our secure payment gateway 2checkout.com does not accept Visa Electron cards or Flexi cards.
In rare cases of when the transaction result shows “Authorization failure – do not honour” – it is either that our payment gateway does not accept your card, or that there are not enough funds in your account. Please try an alternative card if you have one. We unfortunately have no control over which payments are honoured by our payment gateway and cannot give you insider information as to why a card was not accepted.
If you have a VISA card, after inserting your card information a window might pop open asking if you want to or not want to activate VISA secure code – which is a security measure by VISA for online payments – and which is completely up to you to choose.

You may also pay for your rubybox via Debit Order. Simply follow the usual REGISTRATION process and instead of clicking on the 2checkout payment gateway logo on the TRANSACTIONS page – follow the steps explained to complete your debit order. Debit orders are authorised on the 26th of every month, but it may take a few days for the deduction to show up on your account.

Is there a cut-off date to sign up?
In order to ensure that you receive your monthly rubybox, you need to sign up before 12pm on the 26th of the preceding month. So, for example, if you are interested in receiving the January box, please sign up before 12pm on the 26th of December. For those of you who signed up after 12pm on the 26th you will unfortunately have to wait just over a month for your first rubybox. In this case, please don’t be alarmed that you will be billed a second time before your first box arrives – as the payment date always stays the same for each month – this however means that we also owe you the following month’s box so you never lose out.

Does rubybox deliver all over South Africa?
We currently deliver via courier within all over South Africa to a physical address (sadly no PO boxes or Private Bags please). As we are currently sending our parcels with Fastway and Taxi Trucks couriers so we need you or someone you trust to sign for the parcel upon arrival at your door.
If you are not always at home, then please indicate an alternative address such as a business address as our couriers deliver during office hours and requires someone to sign for your parcel. If it happens that the courier delivers and no one is there to sign for the parcel, they will phone you on your indicated telephone number and arrange a more suitable time.
When having to deliver to remote, outlying areas, we may send the parcel via the post office, but you will be informed of this prior to the delivery.

Now I’ve signed up, I can’t wait to receive my rubybox. When will it be delivered?
Like with your favourite monthly magazine subscription, you’ll receive your rubybox every month. You can expect your rubybox to arrive in the first ten days of the month and every month thereafter as long as your membership is active. As soon as the boxes have left rubybox HQ you will receive an email with your individual tracking number. Please note that Fastway sends the emails as soon as the waybills have been printed, so your delivery information will not be available on their website immediately.  You can check up on your delivery status on the Fastway and Taxi Trucks websites.

Do I have to re-order my rubybox every month?
No, once you’ve signed up, created an account and filled out your beauty profile, your rubybox subscription renews itself automatically every month. As rubybox works on an opt-in basis, you can also opt-out at any time.

Can I cancel my subscription?
Monthly members can cancel their rubybox membership at any time. There are no cancellation fees. Login to your account and click on cancel subscription on the right hand side panel in your dashboard. Members that sign up for a six month or 12 month subscription are also eligible for cancellation – and can be refunded for services not yet received, however you will lose the discounted amount that you received when signing up.

Can I change my delivery address or payment details?
All subscribers are able to change the delivery address and box recipient at any time by logging into your account and changing it under ‘edit your profile’, however you cannot change your payment details. If you want to change your payment details, you will have to edit your payment details here.

When is the payment deducted from my account?
As soon as you sign up and create your account, payment will be deducted for your first box. Subsequent payments for the following month’s box will be deducted from your account on the same day that you initially signed up on.
Debit orders are authorised on the 26th of every month, but it may take a few days for the deduction to show up on your account.

What happens if I don’t have enough money in my account on the day you deduct my rubybox payment?
Unfortunately you won’t receive your rubybox that month. If you are unable to pay for your rubybox when you first subscribe, your subscription will not activate and you will therefore not receive your first rubybox.

Will you let me know which products I can look forward to every month?
Keeping your beauty profile in mind, we pick the most suitable products for you, so although you won’t know what’s coming your way, your rubybox will be tailor-made for you. Still curious? Is my rubybox customised? How do you know I’ll love the products?
Yes we customise all our rubyboxes – that’s why filling out your Beauty Profile (that you find when logging in to your personal account dashboard) is so important. A few trial-size treats are sent to everyone – these are the type of products that are carefully selected to ensure that they’ll work across a wide range of skin types and colouring. Other samples are suited specifically to your beauty needs and concerns.

Now that I’ve received my rubybox, how will I know how to use the products?
We’d never just send you your ruybox and hope for the best. In addition to the product information card that you receive in your rubybox, we’ll provide you with more in-depth information on the products and how to use them, links to videos and articles on our Beauty Insider magazine. It’s your source for all-things beauty – from interviews and reviews, to editor picks and pro tips.

Oh no, I received my rubybox and I really don’t like the samples – what should I do?
We really hope this doesn’t happen but if it does, please talk to us via live chat, telephone (021 821 7829) or email (hi@rubybox.co.za)  Feedback is very important to us, so we’d love to know why you didn’t like something and we promise to respond. In the meantime, don’t let those products go to waste, pass them on to some lucky friends! If you really dont want to keep your box, you can return it to us within seven days of having received it, but products need to be unused and unfortunately we cannot assume return delivery costs (except if you received a wrong or faulty product). What are rubypoints?
rubypoints‘ is our loyalty program. You can gain points by filling out product surveys (3 points for every survey) and recommending friends successfully (10 points per friend who signs up). Both these activities can be done by logging in to your personal dashboard and clicking on the respective links in your right-hand side menu. You can also earn points by making purchases in our online boutique, where you’ll receive 5 rubypoints, worth R5, for every R100 spent. When redeeming points in the boutique, 1 rubypoint = 1 Rand to spend. Wow I just found my new favourite product, where can I buy it?
Don’t you just love it when that happens? You can buy a limited selection of the full-size versions of your sample products directly through the rubybox.co.za boutique. If your particular favourite product is not available online, we’ve provided relevant stockists details on the brand pages.

Will you be getting new products in the online boutique, or will you always sell the same stock?

We aim to bring you a wide selection of products in our online boutique, so we’ll continue to expand the offering by regularly including new products and brands. Check back regularly to see which of your favourite items are included.

Will I pay a delivery fee for products I purchase in the online boutique?

We offer free delivery within five working days, anywhere in South Africa, for orders over R300. If your order amount is less than R300, a R50 delivery fee will be charged. Please note that we send the goods out by courier and that we can only deliver to a physical address and not to a post box address.

How long will it take for my boutique order to arrive?

You can expect your order to arrive within five working days. You’ll receive an email with your tracking number within a day of placing your order, so that you can track and trace your parcel on taxitrucks.co.za and fastway.co.za.

What is your return policy for boutique orders?

You can return your order to us for a full refund within seven working days after you’ve received it. If you’d like to return products, please inform us in writing to hi@rubybox.co.za with your account details and note that you’ll be charged for the courier fee. Only products that are unused and sealed may be returned to us. Once we’ve received your returned goods your refund will be processed. Please note: Do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.

How can I pay for my rubybox boutique order?

We use Payfast as our payment gateway for boutique orders, which allows you to pay for your purchase by credit card, internet banking, Mimoney and Ukash.

What is rubybox THE COLLECTION?

First and foremost, rubybox allows you to experience beauty. We are proud to enhance this experience with our luxurious new initiative, rubybox THE COLLECTION. With this new offering, you are always guaranteed to receive luxury beauty products to the value of a minimum of three times the amount you paid. We’ll show you exactly what’s in rubybox THE COLLECTION before you sign up, so that you’re aware of which products you’ll receive. You can look forward to receiving rubybox THE COLLECTION in a beautiful reusable gift box.

How can I sign up for rubybox THE COLLECTION?

The first edition of rubybox THE COLLECTION is now sold out, but you can can indicate your interest for the next one by clicking here and entering your details. As soon as the next rubybox THE COLLECTION is available to purchase, we’ll inform you via email. As there will always be a limited number of boxes available, be sure to respond quickly, as we operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

How does the payment and delivery work for rubybox THE COLLECTION?

Once we’ve informed you that rubybox THE COLLECTION is available to purchase you’ll be able to place your order on the current rubybox system and then pay either via credit card or EFT. It is a once-off fee and not a recurring subscription. Unfortunately you won’t be able to use your rubypoints or any voucher codes. Once you’ve paid, you can expect your bespoke rubybox THE COLLECTION to arrive at your doorstep within the next week. Please note, rubybox THE COLLECTION will be delivered to physical addresses all over South Africa.

When can I buy rubybox THE COLLECTION?

We’ll keep the exact date a secret, but please note that we’ll inform you when we open for sign-ups. If you sign up on the waiting list you’ll be notified via email, and we’ll also announce the opening on social media.

Can I buy more than one rubybox THE COLLECTION?

Yes you may purchase more than one rubybox THE COLLECTION, however as stocks are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis we cannot guarantee availability.
