It is easy to assume that getting healthy, glowing skin requires a whole lot of time, effort and molla. But it really doesn’t have to, all you have to do is tweak your skin routine slightly by incorporating some small changes.
Before you begin any changes you need to ensure that you are following through with the basics: washing your face twice daily, using a moisturiser and applying sunblock before leaving the house.
Everyone’s skin is different and requires different attention and needs, so we have put together a general guide to achieving that healthy looking glow.
Cleanse regularly
The key to clear luminous skin is to thoroughly remove dirt, oil and pollution particles that can clog your pores. It is advised that you wash your face morning and night by massaging a small amount of face cleanser with your fingers in circular motions for about a minute. Never leave the house without sunscreen
The most important tip when it comes to healthy, glowing skin is to apply sunscreen every morning. By doing so you will protect your skin from skin cancer, sun spots as well as prolong the signs of aging. So if you are not doing this, now is a great time to start!
Find an exfoliation routine that works for you
Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, allowing for fresh new skin to develop. To find out the best routine for your skin type when it comes to exfoliating click here.
Add an antioxidant to your skincare regime
Sun exposure leads to the formation of free radicals, which can damage to the skin. Therefore in skin care products, antioxidants, clean up the free radicals which in turn minimise the damages to the cells. Vitamin C is one of the most common and effective antioxidant, it reverses oxidative damage caused by sun exposure. Another great option is vitamin E as a moisturiser, it will keep your skin healthy and dewy.
Invest in a vitamin A product
Vitamin A also known as retinoids are great for giving you that glowy, bright skin. Retinoids work by ramping up the normal skin cell turnover process, which can help improve fine lines, dark spots as well as acne. Do remember that you skin becomes more susceptible to burning when you apply vitamin A, therefore always remember to wear a higher SPF.
Hydrate, hydrate
Lack of hydration makes your complexion dull and it even accentuates wrinkles. It is recommended that you apply a topical moisturiser in the mornings as well as the evenings to replenish hydration. Another rule when it comes to glowing skin and keeping it hydrated is to ensure that your body gets enough water, click here to see when your body is dehydrated or overly hydrated.

I have always had problems with my skin growing up , I didn’t know what works for me and what doesn’t. I didn’t even know my skin type. I had to pay attention to the problems my skin had such as acne and a lot of excess oil while I had not applied anything . I used different products , Nivea , Gentle magic , Johnson and Johnson’s but I found my gem with african rooibos extracts set for oily skin because it has saylic acid , my skin has been doing great . I have also started using sunscreen on a daily whether at night or during the day . This article is very informative, I learnt about how and what to exfoliate with ,and I also learnt what ingredients to look out for in products for skin conditions such as vitamin C for sun damage.
