We all know how important it is to stay hydrated, yet we often forget.
So we have put together a list of simple ways to help you drink more water.
Understand your fluid needs – Before you start downing water you need to first understand your body’s fluid needs. The average daily recommendation of water per day is a minimum of 8 glasses. But you need to remember that this is all dependent on ones activity levels and general health. For most people simply drinking to quench their thirst is enough but if you exercise often, work outside or live in a hot climate your body will require a lot more water than only drinking when you think you are thirsty.
Set a daily goal – Setting a daily goal can help you drink more water. This can be motivating and is more likely to get you into the habit of drinking water more often.
Keep a reusable water bottle – If you always have a water bottle on you, you can easily drink water wherever you are, whether that be running errands or sitting at your desk. This also serves as a visual reminder to drink more water. Plus by using a reusable water bottle you are helping out the environment, instead of relying on a single use plastic water bottle every time you are thirsty.
Replace other drinks with water – One way to drink more water is to replace other drinks with water. These drinks are often full of added sugars which can lead to weight gain, therefore by replacing them with water is an easy and cheap way to cut calories.
Drink a glass before a meal – Make it a habit that before you eat a meal to drink a glass of water. By doing so you are adding additional cups of water to your daily water intake. This won’t only keep you hydrated but you may feel that you will eat less due to the water leaving you feeling fuller.
Drink one glass of water per hour at work – If you work a standard 8 hour day, drinking a glass of water each hour will help you meet your daily water intake requirement. This method will keep your water intake consistent and help you reach your water goals.
