Lets be honest, puffy eyes are not one of our favourite looks and can be caused by a variety of different factors.
Puffy eyes tend to be the main culprit which leave women looking tired and exhausted. Anyone can suffer from this. If you battle extensively with puffy eyes we suggest that you consult your doctor especially if you’ve recently suffered from a kidney or thyroid disease, as puffy eyes could be a symptom of an underlying condition.
A common myth is that puffy eyes occur due to a lack of sleep, but this isn’t always the case. They can also appear as a result of the way you sleep. If your head isn’t propped up high enough during the night, fluid can collect around the eye area, causing swelling. It leads to the dreaded puffy bags and dark circles combo that many of us wake up with.
If you’re perfectly healthy but still affected by puffiness, there are a couple of things you can try to get that well-rested look again.
Here are some remedies we recommend you try if puffy eyes seem to be your trend:
- Sleep with an extra pillow or two at night.
- Apply cold black tea teabags under your eyes for a few minutes in the morning. Tea contains tannin, which helps shrink blood vessels in turn reducing puffiness.
- Cucumber slices can also help soothe puffy eyes and reduce swelling, but you have to have a refrigerated cucumber on hand.
- A cold compress can help reduce swelling. Simply grab a clean washcloth and wet it with cool water. Sit up in bed or in a comfortable chair. Apply the wet washcloth to the skin under and around your eyes for a few minutes, using gentle pressure.
- If this isn’t enough, we suggest you try using the L’occitane Immortelle Overnight Rest Oil-in-Serum click here to read our rubies reviews and ratings. The L’occitane Immortelle serum soothes the skin throughout the night leaving it feeling hydrated and fresh in the morning. The serum also aids at removing bags under your eyes as it is infused with Marjoram which wakes up tired skin and Acmella Oleacera extracts which is known to soothe the skin.
