We are really inspired by the people out there who live zero-waste lifestyles.
You know those people who manage to hold the contents of their lives in a Mason jar? Yeah, they are goals! Just because we aren’t there yet doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try doing our bit for our environmental footprints.
Let’s start with our beauty routine and see what tiny shifts we can make.
Stop wasting your wipes

Just like any piece of rubbish these wipes are known to pile up in landfills and end up harming the environment because they aren’t sustainable. To combat this waste a number of eco-friendly companies have come out with reusable cotton pads that once used can be thrown into the wash to be used again later. Think of them as smaller washcloths but more eco-friendly.
Switch your sunscreen to save coral

Just another way we can be kinder to our environment is choosing the right sunscreen. This can be a tricky business and you might not think these sunscreens are available in South Africa, but think again. The key characteristic you are looking for, is that it needs to be oxybenzone-free. This chemical is responsible for killing coral and accelerating DNA damage in the organisms that live inside it. And, we believe the ocean needs all the help we can give it.
Bulk Up

Think about this, we all have a shampoo and conditioner that we religiously use when tending to the needs of hair. So, instead of buying little bottles every time why not opt for the bulk bottle option. By doing this you are consuming 40% less plastic. Organics shampoo and conditioner has done just that by using recyclable materials in their packaging and giving the consumers the option to buy in bulk. Can anyone say win – win!
Go for single-blade razors

Most of us use plastic disposable razors. They are cheap very easy to get and they don’t have any value to them so it doesn’t matter if you leave them behind somewhere accidentally. However, with this comes the fact that we have to throw them away at least once a month (depending how often you shave) but this can add up in both expenses and physical waste. In order to lesson this waste consider investing in a single-blade razor. It’s cost-effective and it gives you the softest shave.
