It is recommended to scrub your face at least once or twice a week. These homemade scrub recipes are perfect if you are looking to save money or if you have a moment to pamper yourself.
Plus, what a bonus that you probably own most of these ingredients already?
1. Gentle Oat Scrub
Oats are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and are an amazing ingredient if you have sensitive skin.
All you need is:
- ½ cup old-fashioned oats (uncooked)
- Water
Using a blender, pulse the dry oats until fine. Place a pinch of the ground oats into the palm of your hand, then add water until a paste forms.
Gently massage the paste into your face and neck. You can store the rest of the ground oats in an airtight container to use at a later stage.
2. Honey & Brown Sugar Scrub
Both are known for their hydrating properties and as amazing moisture preservers. This honey and brown sugar scrub is great for removing dry skin flakes, cleaning pores, and locking in moisture for glowy-looking skin!
All you need is:
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (the finer, the better)
1 tablespoon honey, preferably raw
Mix the ingredients together. With your fingertips, gently apply to your face in circular motions. Try to do this as gently as possible, to make sure not to damage your skin. Rinse with warm water.
3. Baking Soda Add-In
Baking soda is an amazing ingredient, with a super-fine texture suitable for all skin types!
All you need is:
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Your regular liquid skin cleanser
Mix these two together and use as you would use your regular skin cleanser. Rinse with warm water.
4. Coffee & Oil Scrub
Before you throw your ground coffee out, after making your delicious brewed coffee in the morning, store it for this scrub! Leftover ground coffee is mild enough to use all over your body and face.
All you need is:
- 1 tablespoon used coffee grounds
- 1 tablespoon oil (jojoba, olive, or rosehip)
Combine the two ingredients for a gentle, collagen-boosting scrub! This coffee scrub is a great solution to get rid of cellulite in cellulite-prone areas of your body.
5. Rice & Egg White Exfoliating Facial Scrub
Ground rice is an excellent way to brighten up your complexion and get rid of dark spots! Brown rice flour is known for its oil-absorbing and anti-inflammatory properties, great for oily and sensitive skin.
All you need is:
- 2 tablespoons brown rice
- 1 egg white
Using a coffee grinder, pulse the rice until fine. Whip the egg white with the ground rice until it forms a paste. Gently apply to your face in circular motions. Rinse with warm water.
