Take Your Career to the Next Level with Confidence

Take Your Career to the Next Level with Confidence

We hear all the time how important it is to have self-confidence, but it’s much easier said than done. Developing a belief in how great you are takes time, and much of your confidence actually develops when you’re a child. However, a large part of self-confidence is task related. Considering this, it’s clear how your job can affect the way that you feel about yourself.

Studies have shown that self-confidence actually matters just as much as how competent you are. Employees that are confident that they can execute the task at hand well are more motivated to do so, and therefore end up performing better in the workplace. Those with low self-confidence tend to stay within their comfort zones and are therefore less likely to be recognised, even if they are just as capable as their more confident peers.

The only thing standing between you and your goals is the way that you think. Thinking more positively about yourself will result in you putting more effort into your job and taking more risks, which will likely be appreciated in the workplace and is essential for propelling your career forward. Nothing exciting ever happens in your comfort zone, so make sure you challenge yourself as much as possible!

Self-confidence is difficult to cultivate, but not impossible with a little dedication and motivation. It’s as simple as catching and challenging any negative thoughts you have about yourself. This might take a lot of practice, but even becoming aware of when a negative thought about yourself pops up is a start. These negative thinking patterns often become so habitual that we don’t even notice how cruel they can be, so it’s easier to internalise them. Begin by just being mindful of when a negative thought enters your head, then question it. Constantly berating yourself will not only hold you back in work but in general, too.

If you feel that you need some help, ask HR or your manager for more training. Don’t let this make you feel inadequate and don’t worry whether it’ll make you seem inept to others – if anything, your higher-ups will appreciate it because it shows a willingness to learn, grow and a motivation to do better.

Don’t forget to celebrate the small victories! No matter how seemingly insignificant, every little achievement should be appreciated. This will help to boost your morale and make you feel better about yourself when you recognize every little thing that you’re doing right. A great way to do this is to break down bigger tasks into smaller chunks. That way you’ll have more to achieve and more to celebrate!

There’s a saying that goes “if you can believe it, you can achieve it”. Find little quotes and things that inspire you to do and be better and kinder to yourself. It really is true that mindset is everything. If you feel good and believe in yourself, you’ll be unstoppable. We know that you’re amazing – now it’s your turn to start believing it!

By being yourself. There is nothing more confident than just being you. Self affirmations helps alot. I think if we all stopped and not compare ourselves to others we can have all the confidence in the world, something that i learned i am much more confident now than i was before because i stopped comparing myself to someone else.

I always strive to succeed in everything I do and if I don’t know I am not shy to ask a step by step on how to get it right. I always keep a book handy to save those tips that I can refer to later and share with colleagues when necessary.

I feel one thing I definitely lacked the last time I looked for a job is self confidence. I ended up settling for things I should never have settled for in the first place. Self confidence is something that I feel is complimented by how you see yourself as a person and the affirmations that you tell yourself everyday when you wake up
