Makeup Hacks For Oily Skin

The struggles from always looking sweaty to smudged mascara and breakouts, oily skin isn’t always a breeze. But if you know how to work with oily skin, you can make it work to your advantage.

Here are a few hacks we recommend you try if you have oily skin.

Hack #1: Only lightweight liquids

When you have oily skin your foundation begins to glisten leaving you looking as bright as a diamond half way through the day. To stop this from happening, we suggest you use a lightweight texture liquid foundation, tinted moisturiser or cream blushes. A heavier textured product will not sit as well on your skin and as the day progresses it will begin to run off

Hack #2: Powder it up

For those with oily skin, powder is a must! After applying your foundation and makeup we suggest you brush a setting powder over your face. This not only will decrease the shine but it will hold your makeup in place for much longer.

Hack #3: Waterproof is the way

Waterproof mascara is a must for those with oily skin, we can ensure you that your smudge-free eyelids will thank you later.

Hack #4: Say no to radiance-boosters

A benefit of oily skin is, its built in glow. Having oily skin means you do not need to use as much product or any at all to achieve the glow everyone is after these days. We recommend that you use smaller amounts of foundation or tinted moisturise as a little will go a far way on someone with oily skin as opposed to someone with dry skin.

Hack #5: Hydration helps

It sounds counter active, but by adding moisture onto your already oily face can actually work wonders. Just because your skin is oily it doesn’t necessarily mean that it can’t be dehydrated at the same time. Hydration is often a step most people with oily skin neglect. Keeping you skin hydrated allows for makeup to last longer. We recommend that you spray a spritz of hydration mist halfway through the day to refresh your makeup look, especially on hot days.

Hack #6: Prep your skin

When it comes to a lasting makeup look, preparing the skin properly is half the battle. Nail you skin care and in turn nail your makeup. When it comes to prepping oily skin first use a gentle scrub followed by a hydrating serum. We recommend that you finish off with a SPF and a oil-free moisturiser.
