It’s Women’s Month!

Happy Women’s Month rubies♥︎

August is Women’s Month and it’s a very important month for us because it gives us even more reasons to celebrate our beautiful rubies. With everything that has been going on this year, it is so important for us to look within this month, lift each other up and support one another.

As Queen B said, “WHO RUN THE WORLD? – GIRLS!” With the current uncertainty that this year has brought we thought we would bring some positive light on women supporting women, in our true ruby fashion, by helping each other! #riseupbeautifulyou

What better way to convey how women can support each other through the #challengeaccepted movement that has gone viral over the past few days.

So, what is this #challengeaccepted movement all about?

This movement is purely to spread awareness of issues that are often left in the dark. Currently, the focus has been on female empowerment and with this, in every country throughout the world, this challenge means something different to each woman. For example, in Turkey, this campaign is used to spread awareness of femicide whereas in other countries it’s used to show strength and support to various female-focused communities.

How does it work, you ask? You can post a black & white image of yourself on social media, #challengeaccepted and tag your women support system to also take part in the movement.

If you are looking to support a few local women-run business during the month of August to tie in with our women’s month celebration. Keep an eye out for these businesses below:

I love the fact that today I can wear heels and change to sneakers in a day. Love how I can wear a blonde wig now and throw it on my bed when I get home. Love the fact that I can change my lipstick colours in just a day. Love having these beautiful curves. Love juggling being a wife, a mom and a superwoman. Love the beautiful me.

    • mmoodley270 says:

Being a woman, well that’s my super power. We are a force to reckon with. We are the givers of life, yet our lives are snatched from us daily😢We live in a world where our fight to stand equal amongst the rest is never ending, yet I and my fellow sisters will continue to strive in such a world. I was born to live, succeed, excel and withstand whatever comes my way, I will never fall victim to this cruel world. If I had a choice to be reborn a 100 times over, I will still choose to be born, a beautiful, strong and courageous WOMAN!

  2. Florence Mogano says:

“Being a woman makes me feel powerful. I say that while recognizing that we still live in a patriarchal society, unfortunately. We have the capability of bringing life into the world. Not just by having children, but with our nurturing and caring nature that we express to people around us and the work that we put in. Society continues to move towards being a more logic-focused world and I think as women, our intuition has that power to make us feel and show compassion towards others. If we lose that, if we don’t care for our women and for our earth, the world will stop. Without us, there’s nothing; so that’s why I love being a woman!”

I love that as women we can be both feminine and strong. As much as we can stand up for ourselves and take care of ourselves, we still want to be loved and appreciated. We have so much of untapped strength that we haven’t as yet discovered. And it’s a beautiful thing to see women rise up and realise their own strength more and more each day. I discover new strengths in myself daily as well. It’s great to be a woman💚

Being a woman is challenging but best thing about it, is that the challenges we face makes us even stronger. We are stallions of note, we give life to earth. We are even able to bring “life” into the world. We are extraordinary!! We have the ability to make our voices to be heard, even through darkness. We are the light.

  5. Dessa says:

Hello, i love the fact that I’m a woman because, women feel, women nurture, women protect, women empower one another, women bring life into the world, women make things pretty, women bring happiness and colour to life with such diversity and love.

We are allowed to binge on chocolate once a month

Yes, there’s a lot to hate about ‘that time of the month’ including our hormones playing games with our emotions, but one of the best parts has to be that we can eat as much chocolate as we want… without guilt… and judgement!
    We have our own holiday

National Women’s Day is about commemorating more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956 to protest against the proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act of 1950. They made such an impact on that day that every year on 9 August we celebrate them and all the current women in our country fostering unity.
    We are resilient

It doesn’t matter what life throws at us, we rise above it and thrive. We have fought for equal rights, space in the boardroom and to be heard in our homes. We have a fighting spirit and won’t back down anytime soon.
We were the original advocates for work/life balance

We’ve managed to make being a mother and an employee/employer an attainable feat. We understand it’s not easy so we continue to find new ways to make the whole balancing act a lot easier and improve the support system.
    We can make other humans

Still revered as life’s most amazing wonder, women can create another life and then push it out into this crazy world. Given that this whole experience can be uncomfortable, invasive, and painful (especially at the end of the 9-month journey), a woman’s strength is clearly immeasurable.
We seem to naturally have a higher EQ

Women are known to be the more sensitive of the sexes, having a strength that transcends our physical ability to a much deeper emotional level.
We have the ability to multitask

Quite possibly a superpower! From employee to friend, women are usually juggling many hats. We run our homes, our careers and, in the words of Beyonce, the world.
Clothes aren’t the only way we can express our style

What can we say, women are versatile from head to toe. Whether you want a cute pixie cut, a sleek bob, or effortless curls, there are plenty of ways you can express your style and personality through hair. And these days, no colour is off limits either which means the list of options keep growing…

Being a woman….where do I even begin! A woman is all the energy one needs in life. A woman is a starring with or without qualifications, a woman can do anything she puts her mind on. She turns broken thing into handy things, broken people into powerful beings. We are good wife’s, mothers, daughter and sisters who deserves to be celebrated weather we succeed or fails. Womandl

      • missnjoks says:

What I love about being a woman is the endless strength that I have to love to protect and to nurture the life I carried to this world. I hold down a household. I build and make future kings and queens

        • Lesedi Jeremias says:

Well honestly what I love about being a woman that there is such a history of strength behind our femininity. For centuries, women have been the backbone of the family unit, and we have campaigned for equal political voice and the right to be heard. Modern women have to be extremely strong to keep fighting masochist ideas. Women are strong enough to have children and pursue a career. I’m proud to be a woman because of our history. We were not handed power in our society, instead we fought for it-and won. We were never given an equal voice among our male peers, but that didn’t stop women from trying to fight for the right to vote. We have stood united to overcome societal standards, and women today continues to raise their voice.

        • Feerouza Kruger says:

I love being woman because I can be feminine when I want but also be bold and strong when I want. I love that women’s pain threshold is higher than mens yet we have the softest and biggest hearts. I love that as a woman I get to bond with and take care of my kids even before they are born. I love that I can be independent and not depend on anyone.rubybox #rubygems #riseupbeautifulyou

        • Rethabile Matete says:

I love being a woman because I create, nurture and can readily adapt. Being a mother of 4 at 32 (had my eldest at 24), I can confidently say that I am the personification of resilience.

And, as a woman, my supply of love is infinite! 😂💖💖💖

          • owakho20 says:

It’s tough being a woman these days, kunzima, we go through alot of experiences, we are victimized simply because we women we are killed, tortured and let out.
One had to work double the man does to prove she’s capable of everything, yet we are as so strong even though we emotional, I personally don’t really celebrate woman’s month, it just brings so much pain because are also fighting a different fight from the women of 1956.

      • Fiona Paul says:

What I love the most about being a woman is the strength I have within. Being a woman is not easy. We possess a strength and an ability to push through circumstances even when we have nothing left in us. Being a woman has given me the pleasure of being called mum by my 3 beautiful son. Even though I wear the scares on my body facing death in its face bringing them to this world I would not change a thing and do it over a thousand times. We have the ability to be a wife, a mother, sister, homemaker, teacher, physician, nurse, a shoulder to cry on, a motivator, a therapist, a pillar of strength, a prayer warrior and so much more. We sometimes wear a smile on our face but face so many challenges unknown to so many. We are strong, wonderful and beautifully made and we do matter. I am a Woman and I am proud to be called one. #rubybox #rubygems #riseupbeautifulyou

Women should always remember to accept who they are. You’re a beautiful, talented, valuable human being, so you should learn to love yourself. Of course, there are always exceptions. If you’re a serial killer, then you should probably hold back from being your true self so that you can obey the law and stay out of prison.”

          • leslytore16 says:

Being a woman to me means freedom, liberty. Freedom to shapeshift and achieve anything you want to do. There is no limit on how to brand yourself. You are allowed to have to have ambitions and of they don’t serve you anymore, you can choose another ambitions. It’s the multi-faceted essence of me, of us that is marvelous to watch. Being a woman means you don’t let any mistakes you made define you because they are all learning curves

        • gitywa.lulama says:

Being a woman is priceless, unique and phenomenal. My struggles have made me the woman i proudly am today. Multitasking between my job, helping my kids with school work, doing house chores and maintaining my beautiful me comes effortlessly. I might sometimes feel overwhelmed by all my struggles but quitting is never an option to me. I wear my smile with pride even on my
worst day and tell myself it shall pass. I empower others and like learning from them because i believe in sisterhood.
