There are a lot of beauty tutorials on the web nowadays, but one video is a little different and has a far more powerful message for viewers.
Reshma, 18, starts her tutorial by giving the viewer tips on ‘how to get perfect red lips’. She ends off with her final, and most important tip – that you can buy concentrated acid anywhere in India for 30 rupees, which costs less than an eyeliner at 100 rupees. Because of this, Reshma’s life was changed forever.
While she was on her way to take an exam in 2014, her brother-in-law allegedly threw sulfuric acid on her face. As a result of the acid attack Reshma lost her left eye, and her right eye is slightly closed and infected. She also suffered burns on her arms and will need cosmetic surgery to repair the muscle around her mouth.
Instead of letting this change her life for the worse, Reshma has joined Make Love Not Scars to create these powerful videos, spreading their message and put an end to these horrific crimes.
Reshma we applaud your bravery and fearlessness by standing up to support this much needed cause. You are a true hero and a beautiful young woman!!!
