Beauty Serving Guide

When it comes to skin care, we seem to talk endlessly about the type of products and number of steps in our routines, but never about how much of these products we should actually be using.

We have created a list of am and AM and PM products and how much of your day to day creams, facial cleansers and sunscreen you should be using during your daily beauty routine.

Morning Skin Routine:

Cleanser – (Serving size: A one rand coin)

Cleansers go further than we think especially if you use a foam cleanser. If you are using a cream cleanser you can up the amount slightly as they don’t go as far.

Moisturiser – (Serving size: Two rasins)

If you have an oily skin be cautious if using a thick moisturiser as it could cause your skin to become even oilier if too much is applied.

Sunscreen – (Serving size: A grape)

This is probably the only product you are possibly using too little of. It is vital that you wear sunscreen daily to protect you skin in the long run from dark marks and early skin ageing.

Night Skin Routine:

Cleanser – (Serving size: A one rand coin)

Cleansers go further than we think especially if you use a foam cleanser. If you are using a cream cleanser you can up the amount slightly as they don’t go as far.

Exfoliator – (Serving size: One raspberry)

When portioning out grainy scrubs, keep to the volume of one raspberry to cover both your face and neck. As a general rule, you should exfoliate only once or twice a week at most.

Face Mask – (Serving size: A cherry tomato)

Pore refining or clay based masks can rob moisture off your skin and make it extremely dry if over-applied. Therefore use only a cherry tomato size of your face mask to receive the best results, also to only be done once or twice a week.

Night cream – (Serving size: A blueberry)

We recommend using a small amount of night cream in order to allow your skin to still breathe throughout the night. Let the cream sink in for at least 5-10 minutes before applying your next product.

Eye Cream – (Serving size: A sunflower seed)

Pat about 3 quarters of the cream under your bottom lash eye area. Pat the remaining 1 quarter of cream from the crease of the eye to brow bone. Remember to let your moisturiser absorb before you apply the eye cream and give 5-10 minutes for the eye cream to absorb before the next product.

Serum – (Serving size: A pea size amount)

Serums are extremely concentrated. This means you do no need a lot of the liquid to benefit your skin as a small amount goes a long way. Also remember using to much of anything especial a product with adds with anti-aging can irritate the skin.
