Once midday strikes the lack of motivation often sets in for many of us.

You are probably scrolling through instagram right now, counting down the minutes until 5pm. Well that rubies is called the afternoon slump.

If you suffer from such, here are a couple of tips to help you up your A game after midday.

Stretch - Regular stretching and movement helps release muscle tension it is also a wonderful way to calm your mind. We advise that you take some time after lunch and do a couple of stretches to wake up your muscles before taking a seat back at your desk. All it takes is standing up and reaching down to your toes and holding this stance for 15 seconds.

Rest your eyes - By closing your eyes you are actually allowing your muscles and body parts to relax. This is known as quiet wakefulness. All you need to do is close your eyes for a minute or so and focus on your breathing while channeling positive thoughts.

Declutter - Your surroundings are a reflection of you. You can increase your productivity when working in a cleaner workspace, as clutter can tend to cripple your creativity. Stay a couple of minutes after work one afternoon and tend to those hoards of papers which are just taking up extra space.

Just breathe - Deep breathing exercises are best when it comes to stress management. Controlled breathing also improves your energy levels as it increases the blood flow which allows more oxygen to enter your blood stream. This is as easy as one,two, three all you need to do is breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth a couple of times.

Take a walk - Taking a walk will do you a world of justice. It will not only wake up your muscles but it will offer your mind a fresh start. Even if you just take a five minute stroll during lunch around the block.
