This week is all about making your make-up last and we hope that by using these tips, you will get the most out of your make-up bag!!!

Tip 1. If you use make-up sponges this one is for you… Did you know that make-up sponges can give you an even look, but not without extra cost. They can often soak up more liquid foundation than what ends up on your face. The result? You're wasting foundation, money and constantly buying new sponges. Solution? Get a foundation brush. You waste less foundation and it allows for a more even and precise application than a sponge would.

Tip 2. Remove Nail Polish Without Remover. Run out of nail polish remover? No problem - you can remove cracked or chipped nail polish by applying a clear top coat to the nail and removing it promptly with a cotton ball.

Tip 3. Don't douse yourself with perfume before you leave the house (Less is more). Just because you can't smell it doesn't mean other people won't be able to. If you wear it every day, chances are you’re used to the smell and there is a good possibility your senses have become desensitized to the scent. Apply your fragrance sparingly - perfume on select spots like your knees, wrists, base of throat, and behind your earlobes. Remember – You shouldn’t rub your wrists together as you will break the perfume’s molecular structure. Rather let the notes of your perfume develop naturally.

Tip 4. Save that expensive conditioner and more pennies… Unless you want greasy hair, use your conditioner from your ear level to the tips of your locks - do not use it all the way to your scalp, because it will weigh your hair down and leave your locks looking limp. Fact – You don’t actually need to use conditioner on your scalp as the hair near your scalp is very healthy, unlike damaged ends. Your roots are naturally moisturised from your head.

Tip 5. Recycle, recycle, recycle… You can recycle old MAC containers to get free products in return. Find out more from your local store.

Tip 6. If your perfume is running low, pour the last few drops into a bottle of (unscented!) body lotion. Not only will you smell gorgeous, but will get a bit of extra moisture into your skin.

Tip 7. Fix broken eyeshadows and pressed powders with a little rubbing alcohol. Ever thrown your eye shadow into your hand bag – only to find it smashed and crumbled by the end of the day? There is a way to correct this mistake without buying an entirely new eye shadow - rub alcohol into your smashed eye shadow to create a paste, let it dry and see the incredible results. Your eye shadow should be as good as new...

Tip 8. Store all the makeup you may not be using in the fridge to make it last longer. Did you know that products that contain oil, like lipsticks, liners and foundation, can go rancid. If you live in a climate that is at drastically different temperatures throughout the year, it can damage your cosmetics.

Finally remember it's not your salary that makes you rich, it's your spending habits and how you save.

Until next time rubies - stay gorgeous! xxx
