Skin Health: Mixing Up Your Regime
Did you know...
That innocent regimes that we tend to do on a daily basis can sabotage our complexion without us even noticing. But we have come up with a few tips to help you out.
SPF - Your SPF game is strong BUT you are only applying it on your cheeks and not on your entire face. We miss around 10 percent of the surface when applying sunscreen. To ensure you are applying enough sunscreen for full coverage, use a dollop of SPF 50 the size of R2 coin. Wait about 30 minutes before applying the rest of your make up as it takes up to 20 minutes for chemical sunscreens to sink in. It is also vital to apply sunscreen to your neck as this is a area we often tend to forget about.
Mask Obsessed - We all love a long bath with a face mask and a good book especially on those cold winter evenings. But do not make this a routine. Most masks contain ingredients like alpha - hydroxy acids, glycolic acids and salicylic acids that tend to cause dryness and irritation to the skin if used to often. These chemicals are also known to trigger the production of excess oil which results in clogging of our pores. To get rid of clogged pores we recommend you use the Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask, click here to purchase yours.
Can't Say No To That Caffeine Fix - Whether it be your early morning black coffee or your late afternoon cup of tea you just cannot resist or say no to, be weary as this can be detrimental to your skin care. Caffeine does come in handy in the skincare department as it depuffs eyes and tightens skin but too much of it like too much of anything is not a good thing. If your caffeine intake is rather high we advise you to look into cutting a cup or two out of your daily routine as it will lead to your skin becoming dehydrated.
You Sleep On Your Side - Did you know that stuffing your face into your pillow for 8 hours every night can lead to wrinkles over a period of time?! Breakouts can also be a result of the dirt on your pillow from the build up of excess skin and bacteria. If you cannot sleep on your back opt for a silk or bamboo pillow case which is not prone to creasing and wash your bedding once a week to avoid breakouts. To purchase your silk pillow, click here.
Threading Is Your Game - If you are one to thread your eyebrows think again. As threading breaks the hair off close to the skin this leads to in-growns which can cause little painful bumps and inflammation. We advise you to opt for waxing or the good old tweezers to ensure that the hairs come out at the root.
