Micheal T Ngulube is the CEO of a clothing brand called MCHL. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Financial Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and Management Accounting and Finance at University of the Witwatersrand. He's also a musician and songwriter.

How do you introduce yourself?

My name Michael Takunda Ngulube, born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa. I first followed the “trusted” path - pursuing a degree in Accounting Science at Wits. After completion of my degree I attend Monash to finish my CTA. Driven by my passion to build an African Fashion powerhouse led me to dropping out and start my brand, MCHL.

Do you think your Bcom degree is relevant in your creative field?

My Bcom degree has helped me in keeping my books up to date for my company and with my Tax filing. I don’t think it has made me a better creative though.

What wakes you up every morning besides your alarm?

The desire to succeed wakes me up on most days. Some days are harder than others. As an entrepreneur you do not get to rely on a fixed salary as a form of an income, if you do not work you do not eat.

Tell us about the your clothing brand, MCHL? Where do you see it in the next 5 years?

Michael’s Collection of Hope & Love (MCHL)  is a brand that looks to impact the world through its creations. My parents bought me my first suit when I was 6/7 years old, a Classic Black double-breasted suit. I used to love wearing it because of the praises I received from people at church. There formed my love for fine tailor-made suits and most importantly made me create MCHL which practically focused on creating Bespoke Suits. I hope to see the brand open it’s first physical store in Parkhurst in the next 5 years and to be a force to be reckoned in the fashion industry.

Do you think entrepreneurship is for any dude with a "brilliant" idea?

I do not think entrepreneurship is for everyone. Most people rely on a “stable” income and entrepreneurship does not provide that initially. Business is not for the faint hearted as it is high risk, specially in the building phase.

What’s your winning formula?

Persistence is the fuel that drives an entrepreneur during the good and bad days. I do not think there is a winning formula, however if there is one for me persistence mixed with faith will definitely be part of it.

What are MCHL “awesome” collaborations or achievements thus far?

I have been blessed to do what I love daily which has offered me the opportunity to work with businessmen, graduates and The Who’s Who of SA like MiCasa, Dj Capital & Maps Maponyane.

What’s your routine to stay looking fresh?

I stay looking fresh by washing my hair every 2 to 3 days, I use a daily moisturizer, roll on and I wear a cologne.

Is there such thing as a perfect guy?

I do not think there is such a thing as a perfect guy, although I do come close. Just kidding!

If we had to put you in a BOX – what would you remain as?

I’d like to remain kind, helpful to those that are in need

Grand, grand, what do you think is Manbox?

I think Manbox is a box filled with daily essentials for men.
