Tip Tuesday #54 - Taking a good photo
Let’s face it. You’re a total babe. Even if your old photo albums of gawky poses and double chins suggest otherwise. It's time you learnt to pose like a pro so that you capture your beauty eternally on film. (or Instagram....)
Keep it simple: Leave the leg lifts, the peace signs and the air kisses for the amateurs – you’re in the major leagues now.
Focus on features: The camera downplays things like lipstick and eye colour, so swap your nudes for something brighter to make your favourite features stand out.
Dress the part: You’ve heard it before, but we’ll say it again. Black is slimming and flattering. Horizontal stripes, not so much. Skip the capped and puffy sleeves too, which will accentuate the thickest part of your arm.
Make it pop: Got a round-ish face? Turn your head to the side rather than facing the camera straight on, this will slim down your features and accentuate your jawline. Have a weak chin or large nose? If you’re being photographed from the side, jut your chin forward for a more balanced profile.
Smile: A full, genuine smile is the easiest way to do yourself justice. Treat your photographer like a friend, think happy thoughts and let the camera fall in love.
Hands on hips: This classic megastar move accentuates your waist and makes your arms (and the rest of you) look slimmer. You’ll probably also look and feel more comfortable than hanging your arms by your sides, plus it’s a great way you show off your manicure, jewels or clutch.
Posture perfect: Stand up straight, head held high with your shoulders back. Put one foot in front of the other, tilt your hips forward slightly. You’ll look confident, taller and slimmer every time.
